I am undertaken a variety of different project within the public, private and voluntary sector. This has included: • Designing and delivering a series of workshops; to capacity build a number of voluntary sector organizations (Supplementary Schools) which included “Risk management,” “Strategic thinking” and Business planning to enable them to modernize their organization. • Designing and delivering a workshop for a multi-agency partnership “Nottingham Safeguarding Children Partnership” to enable partners to understand and utilize the Every Child Matters and Children’s Act 2004. • As part of a Focus group was instrumental in organizing and delivering a ‘Parenting the Black Child’ Conference’, and facilitated a workshop titled: “Beyond Conception the role of the father.” • Fostering strategic links to improve the infrastructure within the BME voluntary Sector to ensure the organisation understood their roles in a changing environment. Carrying out a number of presentations concerning: ‘Compact’; ‘New Commissioning Framework’; ‘Procurement’; and ‘Governance’. • As a consultant for ‘Nottinghamshire Black Partnership’, getting BME organisations to engage with the ‘Local Strategic Partnership’ agenda. • A former Chair of Nottingham City Council’s Community Equality Forum, advised and influenced the shaping of key equality documents to improve service delivery and employment practices for all of Nottingham.

The 'Human Rights' agenda may be put on the back burner,during Economic Downturn.

Organizations that has 'Human Rights' has its main remit. May have to high-light the 'Business Case' & at last resource the 'Legal Case' to Local Councils & Mass Media.

Power of media in influencing policy

Rise of single-issues

Must be very clear when dealing with 'Single - Issues' that all Issues at some level are related. Therefore we must look for the link or relationship with what may appear has unrelated issues.

Localism agenda

Tensions between local Councils and different public group, who the Council Classify has 'Hard 2 Reach' community.

Increasing public engagement in decision making at a local level, must mean Empower the public to understand the issues so that they may make choice for whole community not just they our pressure group.

BREAKING THE CODE EVENT

Event objectives The main objective of this event is to provide voluntary and community organisations with the knowledge, skills and vocabulary to access and apply for sustainable funding that will enable quality provision of services to children, young people and families.
